Dr Dhia Al Bakri

Dr Al Bakri obtained his BSc from Mosul University, Iraq and was awarded his Master and PhD degrees from the University of Sheffield, England. He currently holds a Senior Lecturer position in the School of Land and Water Sciences, The University of Sydney. Dr Al Bakri has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience with over 120 research publications gained from working in academic and research institutions in Iraq, UK, Spain, Kuwait, and Australia. This is matched by a considerable experience in consulting work gained through developing and leading 25 multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with government, industry and community in Australia and the Middle East. His current teaching and research focus on environmental management with a special interest in water management and sustainable agriculture and rural development.

In addition to his membership of the Australian Iraqi Forum, Dr Al Bakri has been actively involved in community and multicultural activities in New South Wales (NSW). He was a founding member and former president of the Orange Multicultural Group (1998-2002), member of the Regional Advisory Council of the NSW Commission for Community and Multicultural Affair (2000-2003), and an active member of numerous committees and working groups in Orange and Bathurst, NSW.
